It's official: Bandcamp now reports sales to the official NZ Music Charts (RIANZ) and IMNZ!

In case you didn't know, the musician focussed music store  Bandcamp.com broke the news on 21 December that they are now reported to The Official New Zealand Music Charts and Independent Music NZ. This means they send their (your musics) sales information on a daily basis; meaning sales on Bandcamp can contribute to your music chart rankings - which is super freaking awesome. Bandcamp are to be congratulated for this. I used Bandcamp to host the .tv Tomachi domain: tomachi.tv

The Bandcamp email I got gives more detail on how it's done:

To be chart eligible you must enter UPC (bar code) information for albums and ISRC information for tracks when you set up your release. Enter this info on the edit pages when you’re uploading artwork, adding lyrics, etc.

Official NZ Music Charts and IMNZ do not enforce any particular minimum price, but they do require the album or track be purchased in order to be counted.

My regular release schedule current is as follows:

• Release via Distrokid to a gazillion stores (iTunes, Shazam, Youtube)
• Also upload to Bandcamp using the ISRC codes from the Distrokid release
• Also upload to using manual methods:
  • Soundcloud
  • Facebook (band page not personal!)
  • ReverbNation (for what it's worth!)
  • MySpace (OK I often forget I gotta admit)
• Ensure the tracks are loaded up on APRA for songwriting royalties
