{"id":253,"date":"2010-06-13T21:46:02","date_gmt":"2010-06-13T09:46:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.funk.co.nz\/blog\/?p=253"},"modified":"2010-06-13T21:46:02","modified_gmt":"2010-06-13T09:46:02","slug":"finder-cant-search-ntfs-folders-bug","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.funk.co.nz\/blog\/technology\/things-related-to-mac-os\/finder-cant-search-ntfs-folders-bug","title":{"rendered":"Finder Can't Search NTFS Folders Bug?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I'm having this problem using the Finder's search on NTFS external drives and its very annoying.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\"0 Items\"<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When I try to use the Finders search facility on a folder on a mounted NTFS external USB drive, I get absolutely nothing back:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.funk.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/finder-bug-ntfs-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-254\" title=\"Finder Bug NTFS 1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.funk.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/finder-bug-ntfs-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"263\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yet there are definitely files there:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.funk.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/finder-bug-ntfs-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-256\" title=\"Finder Bug NTFS 2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.funk.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/finder-bug-ntfs-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"262\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>OS X 10.5.8<\/p>\n<p>What I want to see and be able to search to get is the selection below (made manually using command selection).<\/p>\n<p>You can see the selection that I would like to attain below, basically finding and eliminating duplicate files that contain \" 01.mp3\":<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.funk.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/mac-cant-search-ntfs-drive.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-260\" title=\"Mac Can't Search NTFS Drive\" src=\"https:\/\/www.funk.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/mac-cant-search-ntfs-drive.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"362\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Worldaround<\/strong><br \/>\nCertainly, its a pain to have to use a 3rd party software, <a href=\"http:\/\/apps.tempel.org\/FindAnyFile\/\">FindAnyFile <\/a>to find these files, since I can't delete the dupes in here, I'd need to right click to reveal in Finder and then delete, not sure if this is going to be helpful to me say I need to find and delete files that contain \" 01.mp3\" in their filename like the file selected below:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.funk.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/findanyfile.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-259\" title=\"FindAnyFile\" src=\"https:\/\/www.funk.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/findanyfile.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"503\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.funk.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/findanyfile.png 648w, https:\/\/www.funk.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/findanyfile-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In contrast doing this in windows is real easy, I can select and delete these files quickly from this window:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.funk.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/winxp.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-264\" title=\"Win XP\" src=\"https:\/\/www.funk.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/winxp.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If anyone has an idea of a good way to fix this let me know, maybe by leaving a comment on the blog?
